The botanical design is inspired by the 17th-century kulaja of Shalva, Eristavi of Ksani. A kulaja was a precious outer garment worn by Georgian noblemen over the akhalukhi.
As part of Giovanni Morra’s Textile From Georgia project, this historical Georgian textile motif is reinterpreted as a refined accessory for formalwear, weddings, celebrations and other special occasions.
